Our History

25 Years of Grace

Cornerstone Fellowship Church was founded in 1998 by Pastor James and Linda Carter, who began meeting with twelve families in a living room in the Heights neighborhood of Houston. Their vision was simple: a church where Scripture was central, community was genuine, and every person felt known.

Over the next two decades, that vision grew into a congregation of over 800 members spanning every generation, background, and walk of life. We moved into our current building in 2006, opened a second service in 2011, and launched our Spanish-language ministry in 2018.

“We never set out to build a big church. We set out to love our neighbors well — and somehow that filled up the room.”
— Pastor James Carter, Founding Pastor

Core Beliefs

What We Believe

Our faith is historic, orthodox, and rooted in the Scriptures alone.

01

The Authority of Scripture

We believe the Bible is the inspired, inerrant Word of God — the final authority for all faith and practice. We read it together, teach it faithfully, and live by it daily.

02

The Triune God

We believe in one God who exists eternally as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — three persons, one essence, co-equal and co-eternal.

03

Salvation by Grace

We believe that salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ alone — not by works, but by the grace of God freely given to those who repent and believe.

04

The Church as Community

We believe the church is not a building but a people — called to worship together, care for one another, and make disciples in every neighborhood and nation.

05

Baptism & Communion

We practice believer’s baptism by immersion as a public declaration of faith, and share in the Lord’s Supper as a regular remembrance of Christ’s sacrifice.

06

The Return of Christ

We look forward with hope to the bodily return of Jesus Christ, the resurrection of the dead, and the renewal of all things under His eternal reign.

Our Mission

To know God deeply, love one another genuinely, and make His grace known to every person in Houston and beyond. We exist to make disciples who make disciples — one relationship at a time.

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”
Matthew 28:19
